  Associates of API

The following associates  work with API to bring clients the breadth and depth of services necessary for larger firms. Each of the individuals have access to a network of specialists that ensure rapid and effective resolution of your needs.

LAWRENCE P. LEACH. Principal. Larry Leach dedicates himself to help clients improve their work processes and management systems. Prior to founding API, he was a vice president in several Fortune 500 companies, managing projects up to $1 billion dollars (US). His 30-plus years of experience as a project manager involve varied projects that include software development, research and development and construction. Leach has a master’s degree in business management from the University of Idaho (USA) and a master’s in mechanical engineering from the University of Connecticut (USA). He is certified in the Theory of Constraints as a Jonah's Jonah, and the leading expert on Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM). He is a member of PMI and has published many papers on related topics including articles in PM Network and in Project Management Journal. Larry is a facilitator for the University of Phoenix, an instructor for PMI Seminars, and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). H. WILLIAM "Bill" DETTMER. Associate. Author of Goldratt's Theory of Constraints (ASQ Quality Press, 1997) and Breaking the Constraints to World-Class Performance (ASQ Quality Press, 1998), two books around which Goal Systems International's Thinking Process Course is based; Strategic Navigation (ASQ Quality Press, 2003); and Brainpower Networking Using the Crawford Slip Method (Trafford Publishing, 2003). Co-author (with Eli Schragenheim) of Manufacturing at Warp Speed (CRC St. Lucie Press, 2000).

Twenty-three years' experience in military operations, logistics, strategic planning, operational planning, training, large-scale systems deployment, project management, and contracting. Delivered 20 facilities construction projects on time and under budget for foreign government. Successfully completed multi-national logistic support project 30 percent ahead of schedule and 25 percent under budget. Directed a medical services program treating 110,000 people in remote third-world locations in less than 14 months.

Eight years graduate level teaching of systems management, systems analysis, human factors, management control systems, organizational behavior and development, Theory of Constraints, Total Quality Management, and management of research, development, testing, and evaluation. Studied constraint theory and tools at the Avraham Y. Goldratt Institute of New Haven, Connecticut. Teaches the TOC Thinking Process, Strategy Development, and Simplified Drum-Buffer-Rope courses. SCOTT JENSEN With over 20 years of industry experience, Scott's career has been divided between management, teaching, and consulting roles. Receiving a Logistics Engineering degree, Scott began his career in resource management.
As a Lean Systems Implementation expert at an automotive tier-one supplier Scott was fortunate to spend time at a Toyota facility and complete the Toyota Production System, Management Training. Adding to this knowledge he later became a certified Thinking Process Jonah with the TOC Center.
Now, in a teaching and consulting role at Weber Sate University and Control Point, Scott’s areas of specialty include Constraints Management and Lean Manufacturing. 
EIZO KOBAYASHI Chairman of MSI KK. MSI KK is the sole distributor of CCPM+ developed by Advanced Projects, Inc. and ManuSync developed by Mark Woeppel.

Regarding the former, MSI KK was appointed by Microsoft Japan as its partner, as it is an add-in to Microsoft Project. Also, MSI KK holds many training sessions on TOC including CCPM+ training.

Eizo Kobayashi worked for an International Petroleum Company for about 40 years where he experienced a variety of operations as well as planning activities at various levels in and outside Japan. Among the assignments he performed include head of Operations Research Division, IT manager, Distribution manager, Planning manager, Branch Office sales manager. During this period, he had been fighting against cost accounting, and this is why he was caught by Theory of Constraints in 1997. He wrote a book called "Seiyaku Riron nituiteno Noto (Notes on the Theory of Constraints) (2000), and subsequently translated several books on TOC into Japanese, including "Lean Project Management: Eight Principles for Success" by L. P. Leach, PMP.

Under his initiatives, J-TOC was established in April, 2005 and, after played the role of Chairman of this organization, he is now chairman emeritus.

Bob McPherson, PMP, Associate. For the past five years Bob has been fully engaged in implementing Critical Chain Project Management for US Government agencies and Nuclear Utilities. Bob’s graduate degree is from Troy State University is in Human Resources specializing in Organizational Development.

Bob enjoyed a successful 22 year career in the US Navy where he served as a Project Manager and process improvement consultant in the field of Nuclear Submarine Maintenance. For the past ten years, Bob has had full P&L responsibility as a general manager of an engineering/technical services group and as a practice area lead consultant for a big six consulting firm. He is presently the Continuous Process Improvement Program Manager for Main Sail LLC.

Bob has provided consulting and project management coaching services to several departments of the US Government, including the Department of Homeland Security and the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, and many clients in the aerospace, automotive, finance, pharmaceutical, engineering/design firm, software implementation and medical device manufacturing fields.

Bob holds a current DOD secret level clearance and a NRC nuclear plant access clearance. 

EDUARDO C. MOURA. Associate. Technical Director of Qualiplus S.A. (Brazil). One of the top consultants for large and mid-size companies in Brazil. He has more than 14 years of industrial experience at Texas Instruments and IBM (Brazil and USA). Since 1984 he has trained thousands of engineers and managers in the concepts and tools of quality and business excellence. Mr. Moura graduated in Electronics Engineering at São Paulo University, Brazil, in 1978. He is a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE, 1986), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE, 1987), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA, 1990) and Certified Quality Manager (CQM, 1997) by the American Society for Quality. Post-graduated as Quality Expert at UNICAMP (University of Campinas, Brazil) in 1992. A Taguchi Expert, certified in 1999 by Dr. Genichi Taguchi. He has published many technical articles in Brazil and the USA. Author of Volume 15 of the ASQ Basic References in Quality Control: Statistical Techniques, titled How to Determine Sample Size and Estimate Failure Rate in Life Testing (ASQ Quality Press, 1991). Author of The Seven New Quality Management Tools (McGraw Hill Brasil, 1993 [in Portuguese]).

 

MARCUS POSSI. Associate. Technical Director of Ecthos CD (Brazil). The pioneer in training and developing courses related to Project Management in Brazil, with 2  postgraduate courses since 2003, and the first MSProject 2007 course running since December 2006. He has more than 25 years of experience erecting electrical substations and industrial sites. Since 1999 he has trained more them a thousand technicians and engineers in project management, electrical safety work procedures, and operation and maintenance procedures in High Voltage sites. Mr. Possi is graduated in Electrical Engineering at Gama Filho University, Brazil, in 1986. He works also as a Specialist in Project Manager by FVG –Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV, 2004). He has presented several technical articles in Brazil as a consultant in Project Management and Electrical Engineer. Jerzy Stawicki Associate. Independent, freelance consultant and university teacher managing his own firm JS PROJECT (www.jsproject.pl). Graduated from Warsaw University of Technology (Poland), doctor’s degree in organization and management from Wroclaw Technical University (Poland).

He specializes in consulting and training in the areas of project, project portfolio and program management, and building project-based organizations. The other areas of his professional activities are: ERP/MRP II systems and Theory of Constraints. He is member of the international group of consultants „Synergy Network”.

Prior to his current activities he worked (1992-2003) for large IT companies (Siemens-Nixdorf, ICL, SAP Poland) at various positions including: consulting manager, project manager of various SAP implementation projects and business projects, member of steering committees and project auditor.

Dr. Stawicki is author of more than 30 publications on project management, implementation of ERP integrated management systems, logistics and supply chain in journals and conference papers. He is PMP certified (PMI 2003) and also is CPMP: Certified Project Management Professional, Level C (IPMA 2004).

CHRISTOPH STEINDL. Associate. Christoph Steindl owns Catalysts, consulting software development companies with a focus on agile software development, agile project management and software architecture. Formerly Senior Information Technology (IT) Architect and Method Expert with IBM Global Services in Austria, responsible for team leadership and technical success of large, complex projects (e.g., web applications, portals, systems integration) for the complete life-cycle of software development. Experienced in defining system requirements and aligning projects with the client's culture, technology, and team skills. Master's degrees in computer scienceand in mechatronics, and a doctoral degree in computer science, all from University Linz (Ausria). He is a trained practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and has taught regularly at universities since 1995. Member of the ACM.
HARUYUKI UCHIYAMA. Associate.  CEO of More Throughput, Inc. (Tokyo, Japan) Haru has a long career in Information Technology, including computerization of manufacturing, distribution, and accounting applications for clients in Japan. An Information Systems (IS) specialist with NEC Corporation until 1980, he collaborated with other IS professionals in Taiwan and in Singapore to design, develop, and implement custom software for clients. As the first consultant for R/3 in Japan, Haru introduced logistics applications such as Production Planning and Plant Maintenance. His contribution to the spread of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) in Japan includes presales consulting, training, analysis, and implementation. in the industry solutions for steel, semiconductor, machinery, and construction. Haru has provided Customers International, Inc., with a full capability in the Theory of Constraints and its component tools and applications, including the Thinking Process, Drum-Buffer-Rope production management, and Critical Chain project management.
