What is Drum-Buffer-Rope?

Drum-Buffer-Rope is the TOC solution to managing production. The Drum is the organization constraint, used by management to control the entire organization. Buffers are strategically located inventory to assure maximum utilization of the constraint. The rope is information transmitted by measuring the size of buffers to release additional work into the system...sometimes called a 'pull' production system.
