What does it take to do CCPM?

CCPM requires certain management and resource behaviors. The primary management behaviors are:

1. Only define rational resource-constrained project plans with appropriate sized buffers.

2. Encourage planning on the basis of no bad multi-tasking.

3. Remove obstacles to handing in completed work as soon as it is done.

4. Remove barriers and deliver appropriate feedback to encourage using mean duration estimates.

5. Use the buffer reports to make resource assignments.

6. Use the buffer reports to make project decisions.

In a multi-project environment:

7. Identify the drum resource and a drum scheduler.

8. Prioritize projects.

9. Only allow projects to start as sequenced through the drum schedule.

Usually, it requires a project to implement CCPM in an existing organization.

10. Only add new projects by placing them in the priority list and working them through the drum schedule.

 Although available, CCPM does not require specialized software.
