What is the goal?
Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt defined the Goal for a profit-making company as, "to make money now and in
the future."
Goldratt, Eliyahu M. (1984). The Goal. Great Barrington, MA: The North River Press
Elsewhere, Goldratt has added 'Necessary Conditions 1 and 2', which are:
1. To satisfy customers now and in the future.
2. To satisfy and motivate employees now and in the future.
He suggests the Goal and NC 1 & 2 are interchangeable.
For non-profit organizations, the goal may be in units other than money.
